Faction: Demons of Malifica Also known as: Lesser Atriarch of Malifica Pieces of Ugul Hul are every bit as dangerous as the god himself.
Lesser Atriarchs rise from the primordial deep as semi-autonomous things with a primitive intelligence, born out of a god's polyps. They drift the ocean floor absorbing the energy of ancient ley lines, and as they mature they bond with the crystals that grow along those lines, gaining power and a wider awareness.
The result is a grotesque fusion of flesh and energy: a membrane of tissue wrapped around a glowing crystal, encased in Plates of Ghur'dan, its shape never quite settling. In battle it casts spells and regenerates off the energy it absorbs, and like everything born of Malifica it sees the possible outcomes before they happen and adjusts.
Their individuality makes them outcasts inside Malifica's hive mind. Some eventually awaken into true independent will, and those are the precursors of the full Atriarchs.
